I come home in the morning with a DS Lite
Thank you Nintendo my life is tight!
Oh yes dear we’re the fortunate ones
Tech Girls they want to have fun
Oh Tech Girls just want to have fun
I may be biased but I have to say the Boulder/Denver area has some stellar Tech Women! The women showed up this weekend as Gwen Bell hosted some rock star events. Friday night was the Nintendo DS Lite party that was held at a sweet loft space in Denver called The Strategy Loft. It was awesome kicking it with tech girls while we tested out some games, including my favorites Guitar Hero and Mario Kart. It was an amazing evening that even included me getting in a intense bubble-gum chewing contest with Beta Girl Sam Harms. The highlight was at the end of the evening when we all received a DS Lite! How is that for a party favor!?!?
Saturday morning was the Big Event for BWET(Boulder Women Engaging Tech) where we heard two inspiring women, Tara Anderson of Lijit and Laura Mayes of Kirtsy, speak on there experience in the “Tech” world. The second part of the session was Glam Your Gadgets led by Aimee Oelke. It was a fun weekend to be a girl in tech! If you are a rock star tech girl in the area and want to get involved BWET meets at 7PM every Monday night at The Cup. See you there! Oh and if any of you girls want to meet up for a competition of Mario Kart–it’s ON!

Let’s get together and answer the question: Where are the women (in tech + entrepreneurship)?!?
When: Saturday, June 28, 2008 from 9:30 am
Where: The Cup (back room)
Who: You + the techy girls you know & love. Please RSVP in the comments section of this blog post.
What:
At 9:30 we’ll meet at The Cup. You’ll be able to hear us. We’ll have a few short talks by featured guests Laura Mayes, founder of Kirtsy and Tara Anderson, Community Catalyst at Lijit. After that we’ll have interactive sessions led by local women in tech. One session, Glam Your Gadgets!, will be led by Aimee Oelke from Original Radiance…a chance to relive your Bedazzle days. And you thought they were over forever…
In the afternoon we plan to have a pool party (this part is open to guys, too) and do mingly things.
Note to those coming in from out of town: Welcome to Boulder! You’re going to be up in the mountains. Bring lip balm, water bottles, lotion and a lightweight jacket. We look forward to hosting you.
Special, huge thanks to our sponsors for the day! Metzger Associates are providing PR and media and sponsoring breakfast food. The Cup is sponsoring the space and coffee drinks. We couldn’t do this without our sponsors.

Please RSVP in the comments section of this post. Feel free to add any suggestions to the plans here. This is all about you so if there’s something you’d like to see let me know and we’ll see if we can make it happen!

We played Scrabble at this week’s BWET. It was a ton of fun and let us see one another’s competitive sides!
Caron covered the meetup on her blog, as did a new TechStars 2008 team, Foodzie! We managed to sneak them on the board…
We collectively decided to meet once a week at The Cup at 7 (rather than every two weeks). This will give more folks an opportunity to come and connect. Come out and join us for a good time. (More photos of this week’s meet.)
Mondays, 7p at The Cup Boulder.
We settled into The Cup together for BWET last night to talk about what we’re up to and where we’re heading over the next few months. Most of the women in the room are actively engaged technologists and entrepreneurs so we talked about our current projects, launch dates and expectations. Someone laughed when the idea of a “work/life balance” was suggested, saying, “WHAT work/life balance?” It seems to be something on a lot of people’s minds these days. How do you find the balance if you do?
Hopefully a few women will be presenting over the next few months at The New Tech Meetup.
Several people will be attending Blogher 08 in San Francisco. Self included. And yeah, if you’re thinking of going, register fast. The hotel rooms (conf & lodging at The Westin) are selling like hotcakes at 199 a night.
We will meet again on June 2 at 7pm and will have a guest speaker. And play Scrabble. See you then!
